Canvass in Michigan this Fall! |

D2 National Field Trip Recruitment Kickoff Meeting Tonight! Portland D2 Neighbors Indivisible is partnering with Seed the Vote to go to Michigan this fall for election protection and canvassing! Our kickoff meeting is tonight! Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Double Mountain Brewery on Killingsworth. Pods are forming soon, so please sign up ASAP!
Join us in knocking doors and campaigning for two progressive Democratic Senate candidates: Dr. Abdul El-Sayed and William Lawrence (MI-7). This is going to be an extremely competitive race, and the Voting Rights Lab heat map index shows a need for election protection in Michigan.
We are teaming up with Seed the Vote and local Michigan community partners to participate in door-knocking, canvassing, and election protection. The first trip will be deep canvassing in late September/October, and we are hoping to make a second trip for election protection closer to November. If you can't make the meeting, please contact @Nora Stern or @Saskia Hostetler Lippy on Slack. Financial assistance is available if needed.
Can’t travel? Donate to STV Oregon Act Blue account here.
We will be announcing other at-home opportunities to participate in the coming weeks. |

Calling all D2 Election Protection Volunteers! |

A Change in Training Plans
We have an update on the training format. We're partnering with Common Cause Oregon on election protection training. They are creating an on-demand virtual training — available anytime — covering ballot dropbox monitoring and trusted messenger actions, including rapid response. D2 volunteers will be part of their program. This gives us two options: an in-person viewing event for D2 volunteers who want to watch and discuss together, and on-demand access for anyone who prefers a self-paced or refresher format.
Here’s what YOU can do right now.
Step 1: SIGN UP WITH COMMON CAUSE OREGON.
Join their Election Protection Team at this link. at the link below. Once the training video is ready, Common Cause Oregon will send the link directly to registered volunteers — so sign up now to make sure you receive it.watch for a confirmation email. Step 2: JOIN THE D2 ELECTION PROTECTION TEAM.
Email us at D2ElecPro@proton.me to confirm you've signed up with Common Cause Oregon. Include your name, phone number, and email address. Step 3: SPREAD THE WORD.
Invite neighbors, friends, family, and colleagues to join you in ballot dropbox monitoring or trusted messenger actions. Anyone who wants to help protect the midterm election is encouraged to participate. We welcome people who are not yet active D2 members. Step 4: WATCH FOR TRAINING DETAILS.
Once you've shared your contact information, we'll reach out with details about the in-person viewing event. You can also check the D2 Slack Elections-Political-Actions channel regularly for updates on trainings, midterm challenges, and election protection news. |
