We Made Our Fundraising Match! |
|
|
|
We are excited to announce that we’ve made our $500 August Match Goal!
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to make this possible. Your recent donations have helped us to support local activism with a $500 contribution to Sunrise PDX’s Legal Fund, $500 to fund a mutual aid dinner for our neighbors impacted by ICE, and $300 to honor the work of Brown Hope as a partner in “Good Trouble”. |
Our work doesn’t stop there, though. We have under 3 months until the midterm elections, and our action group needs our support to help lift their organizing effort. Your contributions support the direct costs of our activism to pay for supplies, activities, and mutual aid donations. If you have not given recently, please consider a donation to support the work we’re doing and are planning for! |

|
BIG THANKS TO THIS WEEK’S FINANCIAL DONORS to our ActBlue account: New donor, DANA; repeat donors BEV, MARY, TIA, and LAURA; and recurring donor, JO. Your donations make our activism possible and help us support the work of our community partners.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, give us a shout on Slack or email us!

This week, Lars is writing reps about the ICE Body Camera Policy. After the January killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis, DHS agreed to provide agents with body cameras. But they've adopted a policy that they will release body camera video only when seen to be in the agency’s "best interests," subverting the sort of accountability that motivated the need for body cameras. Use part or all of his template to write you reps!

National Black Business Month celebrates Black entrepreneurship, while raising awareness of the systemic racism that impacted Black economic prosperity in the United States. D2 Neighbors General Meeting Saturday, Aug. 22 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Grant Park Church This month, our meeting will focus on midterm election actions.
Food is love ❤️ We'll be collecting donated groceries once again at our Aug. 22 general meeting. It's an easy way to participate in mutual aid and solidarity. The pantry staples go to immigrant families impacted by ICE detention. We're looking for: white rice, dried pinto and black beans (not canned, please), masa, corn husks, dish soap and sponges, canned tomatoes and peppers, and kid snacks. Many thanks! |

Save the Date! Annual Portland D2 Neighbors Indivisible Picnic/Potluck Saturday, Sept. 12 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Daybreak Co-Housing (2525 N. Killingsworth)
D2 will provide Burritos (yum) and cold drinks (seltzer, etc.). You are invited to bring side dishes and desserts. Alcohol is OK in moderation. BYOB. We also encourage you to bring cold water in a reusable container so we are not contributing to single-use plastic waste. And, if you’re really into reducing plastic waste, you might consider bringing some reusable flatware.
This is a great opportunity to invite someone who might be interested in getting more information about Indivisible and the rewarding work we do while having a great time. We have enough chairs for the expected number of attendees, but feel free to bring extra (camp?) chairs if you feel you might need them. |
