An invitation from our friends at PCUN, Latino Network, Oregon for All, and fellow Indivisibles in East County:
Immigrant Oregonians are the backbone of our economy, enrich our communities, and make Oregon a more vibrant place for all of us. And even with our sanctuary laws, ICE has cruelly and violently separated hundreds of families, more every single week.
Thursday, December 18, is International Migrants Day, and Latino Network, along with PCUN and Oregon For All, are taking this opportunity to kick off A Day Without An Immigrant. We will be taking the day off from work, from school and from buying anything. We are withholding our labor and our dollars. Allies who cannot participate – can help by buying nothing, sharing out the message, and supporting affected families.
In the Portland area on Dec 18th, we're demonstrating out in front of Home Depot in Gresham. With more than 2,300 North American stores, Home Depot has stayed silent as numerous immigration arrests are taking place in its stores and parking lots all across the country.
We’ll have signs (or bring your own), chants, drums, and kazoos. See you there!
